Port Blair, Dec. 18: The Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration proposes to implement the components ‘Support for Acquisition of Deep Sea Fishing Vessels (FRP/Steel) for Traditional Fishermen’ of A & N Islands during the year 2022–23 under PMMSY.
The component on Assistance for acquisition of Deep Sea Fishing (FRP/ Steel) for Traditional Fishermen envisages subsidy @ 40% of the unit cost (120 Lakh.) with a ceiling of Rs.48.00 lakh for General Category and @ 60% with a ceiling of Rs.72.00 lakh for Schedule Tribe / Women and their Cooperative Societies towards support for acquisition of Deep sea fishing (FRP/ Steel) vessels for traditional fishermen.

Port Blair, Dec. 18: As per the schedule of TEE December 2022, the Term End Practical Examination December 2022 of the learners enrolled in BLIS (Bachelor in Library Science) of Indira Gandhi National Open University, Study Centre (0201), Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya will be conducted on Dec. 21 & 22, 2022. The list of eligible candidates, batch wise for the practical examination for BLIE-227 has been displayed in IGNOU Study Centre notice board. All concerned learners have been advised to note the same from study centre notice board. Member of Parliament Demands to Evacuate Serious Patients with Attendant by Helicopter, Free of Cost

Port Blair, Dec. 16: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to make evacuation of serious patients and one attendant from far-flung Islands via helicopter completely free, as it used to be in the past.
The Member of Parliament informed the Lt. Governor that the only referral Hospital of Andaman & Nicobar is situated at Port Blair city and this is the reason why in case of any medical emergency, patients have to be airlifted from different far-flung islands in helicopters and brought to G B Pant Hospital for specialised treatment.

Port Blair, Dec. 18: As per Indian Meteorological Department’s weather forecast, thunderstorm or lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over Nicobar Islands on Dec. 19. Due to squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph, fishermen have been advised not to venture into South Andaman Sea till Dec. 19, 2022. Port Blair, Dec. 16: CPI (M) has demanded immediate convening of Administrator’s Advisory Committee in order to discuss all important policy matters, which are currently under process in the Administration. In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A&N State Organising Committee said that a body namely Administrator’s Advisory Committee was formed ten years back comprising Heads of Political Parties in the Islands, a few representatives of Municipal and Panchayati Raj Institutions, etc. to ensure some kind of people’s participation in the policy matters. It was observed that the functioning of the Committee was not satisfactory and only once in a while the meeting of the Committee was convened. However, for the last 3 – 4 years, no meeting of the Committee has been held.
