DCSA Suneel Anchipaka Expresses Gratitude to Civil Society Organisations for their Support

Port Blair, June 8: The District Administration is taking up various welfare measures in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic which has helped redressing the issues of the general public in the South Andaman District.

The District Administration has strengthened health infrastructure especially with the creation of Covid Care Centre at Wimberlygunj, isolation wards and also intensified the Covid-19 vaccination camps all over the District to reach out to the remotest parts.

Port Blair, June 8: The 31st edition of India Thailand Coordinated Patrol (Indo-Thai CORPAT) between the Indian Navy (IN) and Royal Thai Navy (RTN) is being conducted from 09 to 11 Jun 21. Indian Naval Ship Saryu, an indigenously built Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel and His Thai Majesty’s Ship (HTMS) Krabi along with Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both the navies are participating in the exercise.

Port Blair, June 8: The Inner Wheel Club of Port Blair in collaboration with the NGO Pankh handed over oxygen regulators with flow metres, sanitary napkins and milk packets to the District Administration (SA) and the Directorate of Health Services.

During this pandemic the administration has been strengthening the medical facilities of the islands relentlessly to fight the 2nd wave of Covid19 and prepare for the 3rd wave as well. In order to support the administration in its endeavour the Inner Wheel Club along with Pankh has come forward.

Port Blair, June 8: The Indian Coast Guard has issued weather advisory for Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. Accordingly vigorous monsoon is likely to be experienced from 8th June – 18th June 2021.

The recent weather forecast indicates SW Monsoon wind flow is likely to strengthen over the Bay of Bengal from 08 Jun 21. SW Monsoon is likely to be strong to vigorous over the entire Bay of Bengal and Andaman sea from 07 - 18 Jun 21. Further a low pressure area is also likely to form over the Northwest Bay of Bengal from 11 Jun 21 onwards. It is likely to persist over the region and concentrate/intensify into a Depression/Deep Depression during the subsequent two days. It is likely to move in NWly direction towards the coast of North Odisha from 11 - 13 Jun 21. Under it’s influence, heavy rain/thundershower with high wind speed and rough sea conditions are likely to remain over Andaman sea from 08 - 18 Jun 21.

Port Blair, June 8: The Administration is ever committed for the welfare of the Islanders and during this pandemic time, to shield its citizens from the dreaded virus, it has initiated vaccination drive in the Islands. The vaccination began with administering of COVISHIELD vaccine for Health Care Workers followed by frontline workers and vulnerable population with co-morbidities. Subsequently, the vaccination for 45 and above was initiated followed by 18 to 44 years which is currently underway.
