Port Blair, Sept. 3: In pursuance to the directions received from the Secretary (RD/Panchayat), a significant move towards promoting hygiene and environmental awareness, the Community Development Block, Ferrargunj conducted a special cleanliness drive spanning across various Gram Panchayats under its jurisdiction on Aug.31, 2024.

The initiative, undertaken as part of Swachh Bharat Mission was spearheaded by Shri Dabholkar Vasant Prasad, IAS (P), currently on independent charge of BDO, Ferarrgunj and Smti Lalita Tigga, Block Development Officer, Ferrargunj with the active participation of Extension Officers/Village Level Workers/Gram Sevikas/DRMs/MTS/contract-staff/Pradhans of respective  Gram Panchayats/PRI Members/Sanitary Workers/Local residents and volunteers from NGOs, making a collective effort towards cleaner and healthier villages.

Port Blair, Sept. 3: The Department of Labour, A & N Administration, in alignment with the Ease of Doing Business and Digital India initiatives, has facilitated online submission of ‘Form C’ (Notice of Change) for employers of Shops and Establishments in these Isles w.e.f. 3rd September, 2024. Thereafter, any changes in registered establishments under the A&N Islands Shops & Establishments Regulation, 2004, can only be submitted via online Form C. Shillong, Sept. 2: The North Eastern & Eastern States/UTs Tourism Ministers Conference, a prestigious gathering aimed at discussing and promoting tourism across the Eastern States and Union Territories of India, was successfully held today at Shillong in Meghalaya.

The conference was chaired by Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Union Minister for Tourism and Culture. Shri Suresh Gopi, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Tourism, Admiral D.K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM,YSM,NM,VSM (Retd.) Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Tourism Ministers of different States of North Eastern & Eastern State attended the conference.

Port Blair, Sept. 3: Heavy Rainfall (07-11cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Sept.4. Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is very likely along & off Andaman & Nicobar coast during 4th to 7th September, 2024. Sea condition likely to be rough to very rough.

Port Blair, Sept. 2: Although much has been written about the history of the Andaman Islands, no one has been interested in a serious lengthy research; but this is no longer the case. A local historian, Dr. Pronob Kumar Sircar, who was born, studied and brought up in Andaman Islands, and has written a book “History of the Andaman Islands” based on his research on the history of Andaman, has made another important discovery in addition to his previous unprecedented discoveries in the recent years.
