Port Blair, July 26: To bring the Transparency and Accountability in the Electoral process, ECI is constantly utilizing IT enabled solutions and bringing necessary enactments by amendment in Election Laws.
Ministry of Law & Justice has amended the Representation of the People Act, 1950 vide the Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2021 dated 30th December, 2021. The amendments in the said Acts broadly cover the following aspects: -

Port Blair, July 26: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,92,122 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,901 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years. 26,468 beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years have been administered both doses of vaccine. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 56,893.

Proposes Extension of Stage -I and Start of Stage - II of Rutland Water Supply Project
Port Blair, July 25: Considering the water crisis, which is being faced by people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands almost every year, the Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma recently visited Rutland Island along with the Chief Engineer (APWD), technical team and other senior Officers of APWD to inspect the Rutland Water Supply Project himself.

Port Blair, July 26: Nine positive cases have been detected today in A&N Islands, of which, 7 were from incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday. Today, 8 flights with 932 passengers arrived, out of which, 834 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 59 passengers and the reports are awaited.

Port Blair, July 25: The Island Development Agency (IDA), as part of its vision of “Holistic Development of the Islands” has laid emphasis on promoting tourism & highlighting ‘National Pride’ associated with the A&N Islands (ANI) & their significance in our freedom struggle.
The ANI were the first to be liberated from British rule & Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who landed here at 11.30 on 29 Dec 1943, unfurled the tricolour here on 30 Dec 1943 - for the first time on non-British Indian soil & further ignited passion & imagination in all Indians in their quest for independence. To commemorate & honour Netaji & his stellar role in our independence movement, Ross Island, was renamed ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep’ (NSCBD) by our Hon’ble PM in Dec 2018, while also inaugurating a grand Flag Point in memory of Netaji unfurling our tri-colour.
