Port Blair, June 28: The Certificate of Vending (CoV) under para 4(1) of Andaman & Nicobar islands Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of street Vending scheme, 2016)  has been distributed on 22/06/2020, to the identified Street Vendors by the Port Blair Municipal Council. Shri N.K.Udhaya Kumar Chairperson, PBMC grace the occasion in presence of Secretary, PBMC, Shri CH Babu, Chairperson, (E & S J)  and Smti Protima Banerjee, Chairperson, (FT & A).

During the occasion the Secretary, PBMC appraised the participants about the features of the PM SVANidhi Scheme and encouraged the street vendors to avail maximum benefit of the scheme and ensure livelihood during COVID -19 crises to make Andaman & Nicobar find a top place in the list/ranking for implementing  “The PM SVANidhi Scheme".

The Secretary, PBMC further informed that during the meeting of Town Vending Committee held on 27.02.2020 & 09.06.2020, the Town Vending Committee(TVC) unanimously decided and declared  ‘No Vending Zones’  and ‘Restricted Vending Zones’ in order to maintain free flow traffic and pedestrians movement. The details are as under:-

NO VENDING ZONES 

  1. Road stretch starting from Junglighat School Junction to Burial Ground.
  2. Road Stretch starting opposite to Island Bakery to Junglighat Jetty.
  3. The Both sides of the Road stretches starting from Dairy Farm Junction (Traffic Signal) to State bank of India, BathuBasthi Junction including 50 Mtrs. in the branch roads connecting the main road stretch.
  4. Nayagaon Junction area (Both side up to 50 Mtrs in all three sides of the Junction), old AYUSH Hospital, Children Traffic Park and Tiranga Park Area.
  5. Right side of Carbyne’s Cove entrance gate.
  6. Delanipur Junction (Both side up to 50 Mtrs of all connecting road).
  7. Both sides of Goal Ghar junction to old C.C.S, Junglighat.
  8. Infront of all Govt. Offices, Banks & Educational Institutes.
  9. All earmarked and constructed parking places of PBMC.
  10. Infront of Raj Niwas and Hon’ble High Court, circuit Bench.

RESTRICTED VENDING ZONES

  1. Infront of Gandhi Park.

In reference to the declaration of the Town Vending Committee, the Port Blair Municipal Council hereby cautions all Street Vendors of Port Blair city ‘NOT TO VEND’ in ‘NO VENDING ZONES’. Action will be initiated against violators /erring Street Vendors as per the provisions contains under the Street Vendor Act.
