Educational Institutions, Cinema Halls, Swimming Pools, Gyms, Parks etc. to Remain Closed

Lockdown Announced for Weekends in the Islands to Continue

Port Blair, July 31: The Union Home Ministry has issued new guidelines on 29th July 2020 for opening up of more activities in areas outside the Containment Zones and the process of phased reopening of activities has been extended further in Unlock-3, which will come into effect from 1st August 2020.

Consequent upon this Order, the Chairperson, Union Territory Disaster Management Executive Committee for the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has ordered the following guidelines to be applicable in whole of Andaman & Nicobar Islands till 31st August 2020.

As per the Order, Schools, Colleges, Educational and Coaching Institutions will remain closed. Online/ Distance learning shall continue to be permitted and shall be encouraged.

Cinema Halls, Swimming Pools, Entertainment Parks, Theatres, Bars Auditoriums, Assembly Halls, Yoga Centres, Gymnasiums and similar places will also remain closed.

Social/ Political/ Sports/ Entertainment/ Academic/ Cultural/ Religious functions and other large congregations are also not permitted.

The Lockdown shall continue to remain in force in the Containment Zones toll 31st August 2020. In the Containment Zones, only essential activities will be allowed. There shall be strict perimeter control to ensure that there is no movement of people in or out of these zones, except for medical emergencies and for maintaining supply of essential goods and services.

Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited between 10.00 pm to 05.00 am throughout the islands, except for essential activities, including operation of industrial units in multiple shifts, movement of persons and goods on national and state highways, loading and unloading of cargo and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, airplanes, ships.

Persons above 65 years of age, with co-morbidities, pregnant women, and children below the age of 10 years are advised to stay at home, except for essential and health purposes.

Use of Aarogya Setu App is encouraged to ensure early identification of potential risk of infection, and thus acts as a shield for individuals and the community.

The National Directives for COVID-19 Management shall continue to be followed throughout the A&N Islands. The Order dated 28th July 2020 on lockdown will also continue to be in force till further orders.
