Port Blair, Oct. 19: The Revenue Department of South Andaman District carried out eviction drives against encroachments committed over Government land in South Andaman District during the month of August, September and October and restored an area of 169650 Sq. Mtrs of Government land into Government Khata. As a part of Zero Tolerance towards encroachment these eviction drives were conducted in various villages of Port Blair, Ferrargunj and Little Andaman Tehsils.

During the last week the Tehsil Office, Port Blair conducted eviction at Garacharma Village and removed encroachments in the shape of temporary huts and restored an area of 200 sq. mtrs of land into Government Khata. A total of 115050 Sq. Mtrs of land was evicted in Port Blair Tehsil during the eviction drives in last two months which includes areas such as Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep and various locations in Port Blair Municipality.

Similarly, the Tehsil Office, Ferrargunj conducted eviction drives at Mithakhari, Ferrargunj and Dundaspoint village and removed encroachments in the shape of plantations/fencing and restored an area of 6400 sq. mtrs to Government Khata. A total of 47300 Sq. Mtrs was evicted from various locations of Ferrargunj Tehsil in last two months.

In Hutbay and R. K. Pur villages of Little Andaman Tehsil, an area of 7300 Sq. Mtrs. was evicted during various eviction drives in last two months.
