Port Blair, Oct. 22: The Police Flag Day commemorative events began with the performance by Brass & Pipe Band of Andaman & Nicobar Police at Flag Point, South Point on 21.10.2020 at 4:00 PM along with Fire Safety awareness programme by Andaman & Nicobar Police Fire Service. The Police Brass and Ladies Pipe Band, played various melodious tunes highlighting the patriotic fervor to commemorate the brave police personnel who have laid down their lives in the service of the nation.

Thereafter, a skit on ‘Fire Safety at Home’ was performed by the staff of Fire Service and Police Entertainment Team, to generate awareness among general public on domestic fire threats. Simultaneously, they have elaborated the tips & precautionary measures towards fire safety. Leaflets of Fire Safety were distributed to the public who witnessed the events. All norms of social distancing and guidelines/directives of Govt. of India as well as Andaman & Nicobar Administration related to prevention and containment of spread of COVID-19 were observed during the events. The public were also briefed on COVID-19 precautions of hand sanitization, ‘Do Gaj Ki Doori’, mask wearing etc.

In the line of events, on 22.10.2020, a cleanliness drive was organized at Fire Service Headquarters, Police Lines area and Police Training School campus under Swachha Bharat Abhiyan. Staff from Fire Service, Armed Police, Special Armed Police & DGP’s Reserve and Police Training School actively participated in the said drive.
