Port Blair, Nov. 19: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Secretary (Fisheries), A&N Administration to resolve the various long pending grievances of the Bangada Fisheries Cooperative Society Ltd, Panighat, Chunnabatta for overall development and welfare measures of the fishermen community. The issues of the Cooperative Society raised by the MP include:

  1. Extension of fish landing jetty at Panighat in Hope Town Gram Panchayat.
  2. Setting up of a cold storage room for storing fishes
  3. Setting up of diesel pump outlet for convenient to the fishermen similar to Diesel out let set up at Junglighat.
  4. Early setting up of Ice plant for which construction work for the purpose had been completed 3 years back.
  5. To complete the work of pending retaining wall at fish landing jetty, Panighat.
  6. To set up a fishermen model village under the schemes for fishermen beneficiaries.
  7. To provide fishing materials and inputs from fisheries department on subsidy basis to the fishermen beneficiaries.
  8. To provide electricity and water supply facilities at fish landing jetty, Panighat.
  9. To engage watchman at Fish landing jetty for security purpose.
  10. To attend minor repairing/renovation of fish landing jetty/Ramp for safe berthing of fishing boats.
  11. To make availability of service of officials of fisheries department at fish landing jetty at Panighat to redress the grievances of the fishermen for their convenience such as fresh licences, renewal of licences, insurances coverage, boat inspections etc.
  12. To earmark a suitable place to construct a model fish market at Bambooflat for welfare of the fishermen community similar to model fish market constructed at Junglighat and Mohanpur fish markets.
