Port Blair, Dec. 17: V. Selvam running a breakfast cum pan shop near STS bus stand, Aberdeen bazaar, is one among the street vendors who has become Atmanirbhar by availing the benefit of PM SVANidhi. Selvam supports a family of 4 members, including a wife and two twin daughters,10 yrs old.

He struggled hard to provide a living for the family during the pandemic period, as his only source of livelihood had come to a standstill. His wife states that, with no money to buy ration for the family, they were totally dependent on the free food supplied by Administration and other social service organizations, many a times they also borrowed money from friends and relatives for buying basic ration items for survival.

He came to hear about the collateral free loan under PM SVANidhi from his neighbor and approached the PBMC office for assistance. On receipt of the loan, he first bought ration for his family and essential stocks for his shop to restart his business, then he paid back the borrowed money to his relatives and friends. He is financially in a much better situation now and expresses his gratitude for the administration for reshaping his livelihood.
