Port Blair, Jan 19: On the fourth day of Police Raising Week, a medical check-up camp was organized at 1000 hrs at Police Line for Police personnel and their families. Having good health is one of the pre-requisite to perform one’s duty efficiently. During COVID-19, police personnel performed duties on 24x7 basis, having impact on their physical and mental health. As many as 512 police personnel got infected with COVID-19 virus. Medical team of ANIIMS comprising of Orthopaedics, Community Medicine, Gynecologist, General Medicines and Psychiatrist conducted examination and rendered medical advice.

A&N Police Band comprising of Brass Band and all women Pipe Band played enthralling tunes at iconic National Memorial of Cellular Cell at 1600 hrs.

A Panel discussion on ‘Online Financial Fraud and its Prevention’ was held through All India Radio LIVE Call-in programme. The Panel discussion was chaired by Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. Shri Manoj Kumar Lakra (Manager, SBI Mohanpura), Shri Shamir Akther (Manager, Canara Bank) and Miss Devasena (Manager, HDFC Bank) were other panelist.

During discussion, various types of online fraud like Spamming, Phishing, Spoofing, Malware, etc. were explained and how people should be beware of such schemes. There has been a spurt of online frauds world-over and with the advent of better internet connectivity, A&N has also started experiencing it. Andaman & Nicobar Police has been creating awareness among citizens for prevention of such frauds. The Bank officials explained in detail about the mechanisms of grievance redressal. People are advised to remain vigilant and cautious and not to share any kind of details like OTP, CVV number, Credit Card details, personal details like Date of Birth/Aadhar number, etc. over phone.

N&M Andaman District organized a friendly volleyball match between police personnel of PS Kalighat and youths of Kalighat. A traffic awareness programmes were held at Rangat and Mayabunder. A meeting with fisherman watch group was held at Billiground to sensitize external threat through sea route. Nicobar District organized a Road Rally on the theme of “Road Safety” from PS Car Nicobar to Jayanthi junction. The students of Class XI to Class XII from GSSS Lapathy participated along with banners and placards to give the message of ‘Safe Drive’ and ‘Obey the traffic rules’ to the general public. PS Nancowrie organised a cleanliness drive in the Kamorta Market and residential area. PS Campbell Bay organised a cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan at B-Quarry Beach. PS Teressa held plantation drive in the PS premises. Fishermen Watch Group meeting was conducted to brief about safety equipments and sharing of information related to suspicious activities to local police. A friendly Volleyball match was conducted by PS Katchal between Fire Service and PS staff.

Tomorrow (20/01/2021), drawing, painting and talent hunt show, performance by Brass and Pipe band and Police Entertainment Team plantation and cleanliness drive under Swatch Bharat Abhiyan will be organised.
