Port Blair, April 16: The District Administration is conducting intensive field surveillance to identify the influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI), COVID-19 suspect cases under South Andaman District. ANMs, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and Education department officials are engaged for this. The assigned teams are visiting door to door every day and are enquiring the health status of the residents along with random thermal scanning.

The field team covers around 32,000 households on a daily basis, which includes one lakh population of the District and also covers around 8,000 co-morbid patients. The identified ILI/ SARI cases are also followed up by the Special Control Room setup in the District Office and are being provided by medicines at their home.

The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman requested the general public to cooperate with the field surveillance team and also provide health status correctly for early treatment. Also, the surveillance will ensure the safety of oneself and protection of our near and dear ones. ILI/SARI cases should be ensured to be promptly isolated and needs to be more conscious for safety of family members and community.
