3090 Doses of COVISHIELD Administered on Sunday

Port Blair, April 18: There is an overwhelming response from the people of the Islands towards COVID vaccination drive launched by the A&N Administration. The vaccination sessions are continuing in various designated Vaccination Centres set up in different parts of the Islands and the medical team engaged for this purpose is putting their best effort to cover maximum persons on a daily basis. The total vaccination dozes administered to the beneficiaries has now reached 83043. Today (April 18), the medical teams in different designated Vaccination Centres have administered 3090 doses of COVISHIELD vaccine to the eligible persons.

Meanwhile, to have more positive connotation to the vaccination drive, a Medical Team from DHS which departed for Southern group of Islands onboard vessel MV Kalighat under the leadership of Dr. Ganesh Samaddar, CMO, NFSG vaccinated 34 eligible passengers on board.

The A&N Administration is encouraging people aged above 45+ to get themselves vaccinated. The Administration has further urged the general public to bring to the notice of the Administration if they come across people aged above 45+ not yet administered the first dose so that they too can be vaccinated at the earliest. 

A total of 77 medical teams are performing the task of vaccination to the eligible persons aged above 45+. The Vaccination drive is being held on all days of the week including Sundays and holidays. To facilitate the general public, facility for onsite registration has also been created for those who are not able to register their names on COWIN portal.

Meanwhile, in the wake of rise in COVID-19 cases in these Islands all Islanders have been appealed to follow appropriate COVID-19 behavior. The best way to safeguard oneself is to maintain social distancing, wash hand and face with soap and water intermittently along with wearing appropriate face masks. Islanders have been requested to follow the COVID protocol to safeguard themselves and the community.
