Port Blair, May 13: The increasing trend of positive cases among the people who are moving to inter- Island is still continuing. Addressing a COVID-19 media briefing held in the conference hall of IP&T today, the Secretary, (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh informed that it is a matter of great concern and urged people to minimize their movement. He said that today’s data reveals that 2 flights with 126 passengers arrived and during the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on these passengers, 1 person was found positive while the test conducted on 73 persons bound for Middle & North Andaman at Ferrargunj 6 persons were found positive.

The Secretary further stated that the second dose of vaccination programme for the eligible persons above 45 years of age commenced today and the vaccination is done in all the 30 vaccination centres by the vaccination teams constituted for the same. He once again requested the eligible persons above 45+ age to come forward to get vaccinated at the earliest and help the Administration to restrict the spread of corona virus.

The Deputy Director G.B. Pant Hospital, Shri Amitabha De informed that in G. B Pant Hospital, 9 patients were discharged today and at present 99 are admitted in the Hospital, of which 70 are on Oxygen support and 2 patients are on ventilator. He further disclosed that altogether, 4 COVID patients were admitted in Covid Care Centres today and 6 patients were discharged and at present 45 patients are still in Covid Care Centres in South Andaman District.
