Port Blair, Aug. 28: As part of 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo, the Department of Art & Culture and Kala Kendra Society organized a programme on the life & teachings of Sri Aurobindo at the Tagore Government College of Education today. The objective of the programme was to create awareness among youth about Sri Aurobindo's teachings. As part of the programme, Trainees of TGCE, Shri Pritish and Vinod spoke on the life and teachings of Sri Aurobindo and his role in the Indian freedom struggle.

The Director (Art & Culture), Dr. Jatinder Sohal while inaugurating the series of programmes on Sri Aurobindo at TGCE highlighted that the teachings of Sri Aurobindo can inspire the youth to embark on a journey of self-discovery, pursue integral education and cultivate inner discipline, thereby contributing to their personal growth and the betterment of society. He said that the youth can develop inner discipline, set clear goals, and work consistently towards them, overcoming obstacles with patience and perseverance. They should also strive for a well-rounded education that nurtures not only academic knowledge but also emotional intelligence, creativity, and ethical values. He informed the gathering about the programmes planned by the Department to propagate the teachings of Sri Aurobindo. 

‘The Transformation’-A documentary film on the life and teachings of Sri Aurobindo made by Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry was also screened for the trainees. Earlier, Dr. Rashida Iqbal , Assistant Director (Art & Culture) welcomed the gathering.
