On the occasion of National Sports Day, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to all Islanders. This day is a tribute to the spirit of sportsmanship, determination, and unity that resonates across our nation and beyond. National Sports Day celebrates the importance of sports in our daily lives and is observed on the birth anniversary of sporting legend Major Dhyan Chand who is also known as 'Wizard of Hockey'.

Sports have the remarkable ability to bring people together, transcending barriers and fostering a sense of camaraderie. Our Islands have a rich history of embracing various sports and nurturing talent. In the last several decades Andaman and Nicobar Islands have produced hundreds of National and International Level sports persons, who have brought laurels for our Country as well as our Islands and made us proud.

As we celebrate this day, let us take a moment to recognize the dedication of our athletes, coaches, and sports enthusiasts who continue to inspire us with their hard work and achievements.

Physical activity not only contributes to our well-being but also instills important life values such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience. I encourage all of you to stay active and engage in sports, not just for the sake of competition, but to experience the joy of staying healthy and connected.

Wishing you all a wonderful National Sports Day!

Kuldeep Rai Sharma,
