Port Blair, Sept. 14: The Fisheries Training Centre, Marine Hill, Department of Fisheries in association with ICAR-CIARI, Garacharma and Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture (RGCA), Kodiyaghat and with the financial assistance from National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) will be organizing a three days Training Programme on ‘Mud Crab fattening and Shrimp Farming’ from   Oct. 18 to 20, 2023.

The programme will cover all the aspects of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Design and layout of Shrimp and Crab Farm, Pre-stocking and stocking management of Shrimp and Crab Aquaculture, Food and Feeding, Health Management etc. Field visits to Aquaculture farms/hatchery also will be conducted as part of the programme. A total of 25 applications will be selected for undergoing training and the Department will also hand hold the trained groups for undertaking commercial activities through PMMSY scheme.

Applications have been invited in prescribed format from the interested Fishers / Fish farmers/ SHGs/ Entrepreneur/ Tribal and Unemployed youths to undergo the training programme. The selected trainee will be provided Daily Allowance @ Rs.300/- and Travelling Allowance @ Rs.100/- per day in addition to lunch and refreshments.

The interested applicants may contact the nearest Zonal Fisheries office/Fisheries Sub-Stations for applications and the filled in application in the prescribed format should be submitted on or before 25.09.2023.
