Port Blair, Sept. 15: RED RUN, a State Level Marathon of 5 Kms was conducted by Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) from Netaji Subash Chandra Boss Stadium to Mazaar Pahad and back on 15th September 2023 (Friday). The marathon was organized for the awareness on HIV/AIDS among the youth.  Participants were from Colleges and Youth Clubs.

Ms. Deborah Herold, Indian cyclist from A & N Islands who represented India and won many medals in various National and International Level Competition was the Chief Guest. She motivated the participants and flagged off the Marathon.

The Red Run was organized under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS. The participants were informed on various aspects of HIV & AIDS.

Shri T. Pawan from JNRM won 1st position, Shri Pintu Halder from ITI Dollygunj won 2nd position, Shri S.Mariappan from ANCOL won 3rd position and Shri Mohit Vaishnab from ANCOL won the consolation prize among the male category of college students.

Ms. Singuru Harshita from TGCE won 1st position, Ms. Sabeena Lakra from Andaman Law College won 2nd position, Ms.Avantika Singh from Andaman Law College won 3rd position and Ms. Sumira Bara from ITI Dollygunj won the consolation prize among the female category of college students

Shri Manoj Jena from Brookshabad Youth Club won 1st position, Shri Abdul Aziz from Fit Andaman Sports Club won 2nd position, Shri S. Arun Pandian from Shri Pagampiriyal Samtha Police line won 3rd position and Shri Jagdish  from Sun Youth Club Junglighat won the consolation prize among the male category of out of school youth.

Ms. Susila Tamang from Bharath Youth Club won 1st position, Ms. Raat Rani from Praduth Youth Club Panighat won 2nd position and Ms. Sindhu from Syc Youth Club won 3rd position among the female category of out of school youth.

Students participated in this RED RUN from the Colleges/Institute from all the three districts of A & N Islands. From South Andaman Dist. participation was from ANCOL, Andaman Law College, DBRAIT, ITI Dollygunj, JNRM, Pondicherry University Brookshabad, TGCE; from N&M Andaman participation was from Govt. Polytechnic Diglipur and from Nicobar Dist the participation was from ITI Car Nicobar. The RED RUN was first conducted at College level and the winners from the College Level participated in this State Level Marathon.

Youths representing different Youth Clubs also participated in the Red Run who were nominated by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK).

The top two winners from both male and female category of college students will be participating at the National Level Red Run which will be organized by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) in Goa on 8th October 2023.
