Port Blair, Sept. 20: The Unique ID for Persons with Disabilities project aims to create a National Database for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and to issue a Unique Disability Identity (UDID) Card to each individual with disabilities, which is now in full swing. This project not only promotes transparency and efficiency, and streamlines Government benefit delivery to Persons with Disabilities but also ensures uniformity in accessibility and services.

The UDID Card is set to bring a multitude of benefits to Persons with Disabilities, including:

Free Travel Facilities: Access to free travel facilities in both public and private buses.

Free Ferry and Ship Services: Free ferry and ship services for inter-island and mainland vessels.

Disability Allowance: A monthly disability allowance of Rs. 2,500 per beneficiary to ease financial burdens.

Assistive Devices: Provision of assistive devices tailored to the specific needs of Divyangjan individuals, based on their disability type and income criteria.

Niramaya Health Insurance: Inclusion in the Niramaya Health Insurance scheme, offering comprehensive health care coverage.

Disability Scholarships: Opportunities for disability scholarships, empowering individuals to pursue education and skill development.

Streamlined Documentation: Elimination of the need for multiple copies of documents, as the UDID Card comprehensively captures all necessary details that can be easily accessed.

Single Document for Identification: The UDID Card serves as the sole document for the identification and verification of disabled individuals, making it more convenient for them to avail of various benefits.

Progress Tracking: The UDID Card plays a pivotal role in tracking the physical and financial progress of beneficiaries.
