Port Blair, Sept. 20: The Second International Conference on “Prospects and challenges of environment and biological sciences in food production system for livelihood security of farmers (ICFPL-2023)” jointly organized by Pragati International Scientific Research Foundation (PISRF), Meerut, UP, India and Andaman Science Association (ASA), Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India, in collaboration with ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, (SVPUAT), Meerut, India, from September 18-20, 2023 at ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair concluded today.

More than 100 delegates representing 26 states and 2 UTs participated in three days’ International seminar and equal number joined virtually. During the three days, three keynote address based on recent challenges faced by the farmers like watershed planning, fisheries resource management, custom hiring towards mechanization along with lead papers by eminent scientists, 90 online and 50 offline scientific research outcome in 14 technical sessions were presented. The best oral and poster presentation were recognized and awarded during the valedictory function by the dignitaries.

During the Valedictory session held at Dr. T.R. Dutta conference hall, on 20th September 2023, the chief guest Dr. P.L. Patil, Vice Chancellor, UAS Dharwad appreciated the conduct of the International seminar and stressed on the managers to motivate young scientists to participate in the International/ National conference anywhere in India. This will empower the individual(s) with latest knowledge and give confidence in taking forward the commitments for the betterment of the farming family.

Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI & President Andaman Science Association, deliberated that everyone has to be focused and blend his research work by involving scientist of other fields, so that a broad based technology can be developed and recommended to the stakeholders. His expressed his happiness on the fruitful conduct of the festival of science involving diversified group of scientists across the nation, at this pristine island.

Dr. Gaya Prasad, Chairperson, ICFPLS-2023 concluded his remarks by stating that the gathering for the International Seminar was unique representing all geographical areas of the country. It also provided a platform for interacting & sharing for cross hybridization of ideas in the field of technology developer, mitigation, AI user, genome sequencing, conservation of agriculture and fisheries resource management. He appreciated the diversity of the scientific fraternity to be amazing.

At the outset Dr. V.P. Chaudhary, Organizing Secretary, ICFPLS-2023, welcomed the gathering and Dr. Jai Sunder, Local Organizing Secretary proposed vote of thanks.
