Port Blair, Sept. 25: The Member of Parliament of, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to expedite the completion of two under-construction hostels inside JNRM and ANCOL, so that all girl students from different parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands can get a safe hostel accommodation in Port Blair.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament highlighted the issue of lack of adequate hostel spaces for girl students in JNRM and ANCOL.

He mentioned that the construction of a 125-bed hostel in the JNRM girls' campus is about 90% complete, while a 100-bed hostel within the ANCOL campus is approximately 85% finished. Yet, for reasons unknown, these projects are yet to be finalized and made available to students. “This delay is causing undue stress and inconvenience to our new girl students of remote islands,” he said.

Considering the immediate need for safe accommodations, the Member of Parliament requested intervention of the Chief Secretary to expedite the completion of both under-construction hostels of JNRM and ANCOL as soon as possible.
