Port Blair, Sept. 25: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has raised the issue of cargo transportation to the Great Nicobar Islands (Campbell Bay). In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma commended the continuous efforts of the Administration and the Directorate of Shipping Service for their regular operations of MV Sindhu and MV Nalanda, which have greatly benefitted the Islanders.

Highlighting the importance of these services, the Member of Parliament noted that MV Sindhu and MV Nalanda have the capacity to carry ten cargo containers, with five currently designated for Kamorta and Katchal. He also acknowledged the essential role these containers play in the transportation of goods from Port Blair to these islands.

In response to residents' requests, especially those from Great Nicobar Island (Campbell Bay), he demanded the allocation of two cargo containers specifically for Great Nicobar Islands. This allocation would not only reduce cargo transportation costs but also enhance accessibility to goods, contributing to the region's overall development and well-being.
