Port Blair, Sept. 26: In response to the urgent request made by the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma concerning the relocation of the Polytechnic in Diglipur, a significant progress has been made to ease space constraints faced by Sita Nagar Model School, Diglipur.

The Member of Parliament had earlier highlighted that the Diglipur Polytechnic, with approximately 260 students, has been operating within the premises of Sita Nagar Model School, sharing limited classroom and laboratory space. This coexistence has posed challenges in providing adequate infrastructure and facilities for both institutions.

Recognizing the need for a solution, the authorities have informed Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma that efforts are underway to shift the Polytechnic to an available Boys' hostel located behind Sita Nagar Model School in Diglipur. This move would free up the rooms currently occupied by the Polytechnic within the Model School campus.

The proposed relocation aims to benefit the students of Sita Nagar Model School by providing them with additional space for their educational activities. Simultaneously, the Polytechnic students would gain access to improved infrastructure within their dedicated building.

The A&N Administration has informed the Member of Parliament that as the rooms of the Boys’ Hostels are small for conducting classes of Polytechnic, necessary repair works will be carried out in this regard in the Boys’ Hostel before shifting the Polytechnic.
