876 Appointment Letters Given to Recruits in Various Departments of A&N Administration

Port Blair, Sept. 26: A Grand and historic Rozgar Mela was organized by Andaman and Nicobar Administration on 26.09.2023 at 09.45 am at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Pahargaon. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi participated in this nationwide Rozgar Mela through video conferencing. At the beginning of the program, through video conferencing, Hon’ble Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, in his welcome address, stated that today, a total of 51,000 appointment letters are being distributed in various States and Union Territories of India, for which, the entire credit goes to the Hon’ble Prime Minister. About 10 lakhs vacant posts which have been pending for a long time will be filled as far as possible in which, suitable opportunities for promotion will also be provided.

On this occasion, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Home, Youth Affairs and Sports) Shri Nishith Pramanik was invited as the Chief Guest and Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency was the Guest of Honour. Hon’ble Member of Parliament of A & N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Shri. Keshav Chandra and Senior officers and employees of the Administration were also present in the function.    

At the beginning of the program, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Shri Nikhil Kumar welcomed the Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Home, Youth Affairs and Sports), Shri Nishith Pramanik, Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Admiral D.K. Joshi and the distinguished guests present and the selected candidates and their parents.

Shri Keshav Chandra, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, welcomed the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Hon’ble MP and other dignitaries present. In his address, he informed that in order to fill more than 4500 vacancies over the years, Andaman and Nicobar Administration initiated the recruitment process in a phased manner in mission mode as directed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

In this context, he also expressed special gratitude towards Hon’ble Lt. Governor and stated that under his directions and guidance, the recruitment process could be made successful. He informed that this is the only Union Territory in the entire Country among the States and UTs in which, the highest number of appointment letters are being provided in today's Nationwide Rozgar Mela. For this, he gave entire credit to Hon’ble Lt. Governor for his persistent guidance and support and assured that the recruitment for the remaining posts will also be completed during the coming three-four months.

On this occasion, he presented a detailed report about the journey of this Rozgar Mela organised in Andaman and Nicobar Islands today.

The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Union Minister of State and Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A & N Islands handed over a total of 876 offer of appointment letters to the newly recruited candidates under various departments of this Administration.

The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and reiterated that it is the priority of the Government of India to provide employment opportunities to the unemployed youth in mission mode. He also made special mention of the 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees after whom, recently, 21 Islands were named. He also requested the women candidates to take advantage of various schemes implemented by the Government of India for women empowerment and their welfare. Hon’ble Minister stated that today is also a special day because of the birth anniversary of India's great social reformer and teacher, Shri Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar who made concerted efforts for women upliftment and social reforms. He expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor and the Chief Secretary for organizing the Rozgar Mela in DBRAIT in such a grand manner.

The Hon’ble Lt. Governor, in his address, called upon all the selected candidates to work with integrity and wished them a bright and successful future. He informed that for the last one year, the process of filling about 4500 vacant posts has been going on in mission mode for which, the Chief Secretary had also conducted numerous review meetings. In addition, Hon’ble Lt. Governor himself has also conducted review meetings at his level almost once every three months the progress of which, this Administration has brought to the notice of general public through social media and press releases. Apart from this, he also assured that during the coming three-four months, efforts will be made to fill more than three times of the remaining vacant posts. This is despite facing the geographical and other challenges by these islands, this administration accomplished this historic task by adopting a fair, timely and transparent recruitment process. Lt. Governor also thanked the external agencies like the Staff Selection Commission, New Delhi, NIC etc., who were associated with the Administration throughout the recruitment process. During the program, he also thanked the Chief Secretary of A & N Administration and other concerned Departments for conducting the Common Recruitment Examination and informed that through the Rozgar Mela, appointment letters are being provided to the selected candidates for 876 vacant posts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which is the highest number today and thus, a matter of pride for this Union Territory at the national level. Apart from this, the Administration is also making necessary efforts for the recruitment of 210 Group " A " posts through Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi at an early date.

The program was concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Nandini Paliwal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Administration, on behalf of all the Andaman and Nicobar Islanders, offering heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi under whose constant guidance and inspiration, the nationwide Rozgar Melas of this magnitude could be launched to provide adequate employment to the unemployed Youth.

She also expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Hon'ble Union Minister of State (Home, Youth Affairs and Sports, Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A & N Islands, Hon'ble MP, A & N Islands, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests A&N Administration and other Senior Officers and staffs of this Administration for making this program a grand success. Further, she also thanked all the other distinguished guests and newly appointed employees and their parents.
