Port Blair, Sept. 28: Zoological Survey of India celebrated Hindi Fortnight from 14th - 28th September 2023 for promoting use of Hindi in day-to-day official work and encouraging the employees to work in Hindi.  Hindi Essay, Poem and Dictation were organised in separate groups of Hindi speaking and non-Hindi speaking employees. 

Shri. D. Sathyamoorthy, Deputy Chief Engineer, Andaman and Lakshadweep Harbor Works graced the valedictory function as Chief Guest while Dr. Prashant Bhadu, Principal, Andaman Law College graced as the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour gave away prizes to the winners of different Hindi competitions. 

Shri. Sathyamoorthy, in his valedictory address said this day is celebrated to promote and spread the culture and the importance of Hindi language.  The Official Language Hindi is now spreading fast not only in India, but in other countries. He said that technical terminologies in simple Hindi should also popularized, which will promote use of Hindi language in technical areas as well. He also highlighted the rich history and tradition of Hindi language.

Dr. Prashant, in his felicitation address stressed upon the importance of Hindi in day-to-day official works as well as works of permanent nature. It is the responsibility of all officers and employers aware of the Official Language Policy of the Union Government and the provisions & orders of the Official Languages Act. The Language and culture of any country plays an important role in making people-to connect with the people & helps in making a strong nation.

Earlier, Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Officer-in-Charge, welcomed the Guests other dignitaries and briefed about initiation of Hindi in regular official works in ZSI.
