Port Blair, Sept. 28: The Principal Bench of the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal (NGT), New Delhi its order dated 11.07.2017 in O.A. No. 384/2016 and 442/2016 in the matter of Khalid Ashraf & Anr-Vs-U.O.I & Ors and People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India-Vs-U.O.I. & Ors respectively has directed the prohibition of the use of nylon thread, Chinese Dor, and synthetic thread coated with harmful materials for kite flying.

As per the directions of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MOEF&CC) and CPCB it is to inform that manufacture, sale, storage, purchase and use of Chinese Manjha or thread used for kite flying which is made of nylon or any synthetical material and / or coated with synthetic substance and its non-biodegradable is prohibited. Units manufacturing “Synthetic fibre including rayon, tyre cord, polyester filament yarn” shall submit an Annual Self – Declaration statement to ANPCC that they are supplying their product only to valid users and not to any entity involved in manufacturing Chinese Manjha/ nylon/ synthetic/ material/ glass coated thread for kite flying.

All concerned authority and general public are hereby advised to abide by the Direction and non-compliance if found may be intimated to the Member Secretary, ANPCC for necessary action as deemed fit.
