Port Blair, Oct. 5: The Department of Animal Husbandry has undertaken an initiative to support local poultry farmers in. In this endeavor, a total of 850 poultry chicks were distributed to 30 farmers on the island. These chicks are not limited to a single breed; rather, they include a variety, including Vanraja chicks.

This distribution event aimed to promote poultry farming as a sustainable source of income and livelihood for the local farmers on Shaheed Dweep. Poultry farming, which includes breeds like the Vanraja, is known for its robustness and high egg production, making it a valuable asset for those engaged in poultry.

The farmers who received these poultry chicks expressed their gratitude for the support provided by the Department of Animal Husbandry. To ensure their success in poultry farming, comprehensive care and management guidelines were also provided as part of this initiative.
