Port Blair, Oct. 5: The 'Resource Room' for Children with Special Needs of Block Resource Centre, Wimberlygunj was inaugurated today in the premises of Government Middle School, Kanyapuram by the chief guest, Smt. Sangeeta Chand, Deputy Education Officer, Wimberlygunj. Dr. Niti Kshetry, a Developmental Pediatrics Occupational Therapist was the guest of honour while Shri Himadri Sekhar Debsharma, a Consultant in Prosthetics and Orthotics, along with Smt. Sobha Roy, Vice Principal of GSSS Bambooflat, Smt. Bindu Suresh, In-charge, GMS Kanyapuram were the special guests.

The chief guest emphasized on the significance of the Resource Room, which is equipped with all modern facilities. She explained that the Resource Centre will conduct various activities including the identification and assessment of Children with Special Needs (CWSN), provide aids, appliances, therapeutic services, and the development of teaching-learning materials using assistive devices.       

Dr. Niti Kshetry, the guest of honour highlighted the importance of such a Resource Centre in this region for the overall development of Children with Special Needs. Shri Himadri Sekhar Debsharma, a Consultant in Prosthetics and Orthotics, also addressed the gathering. National Awardee, Shri Ranjan Kr Biswas also highlighted the activity to be carried at the Resource Room.
