Port Blair, Oct. 12: The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), GoI Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration has organized 'Amrit Kalash Yatra' under “Meri Maati Mera Desh” to pay tribute to the brave freedom fighters and bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the country. As part of this campaign, the soil collected from different blocks of South Andaman brought by different cultural organizations engaged by EZCC was handed over to the Director, Art & Culture, Dr. Jatinder Sohal at a brief function held at National Memorial Cellular Jail premises today. 

Shri Deepak Mukherjee, Official from EZCC informed that   Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre is covering the States of Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal and the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is one of the seven such Zonal Cultural Centres set up by the Government of India with a view to culturally integrate the States and the Union Territories as part of the programme of National Integration.

In view of this campaign, the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre organized ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign’ at Block level in A&N Islands.  At Prothrapur Block, soil was collected by the members of Sujata Dance Academy from villages viz. Beodnabad, Calicut, Sippighat and Dollygunj. At Ferrargunj Block, soil was collected by the members of Kasheesh from villages viz. Caddlegunj, Aniket and Mathura. At Port Blair Block, soil was collected by the members of Aditya Natya Academy from villages viz. Chouldari, Guptapara and Humfreygunj.
