Port Blair, Oct. 12:  On 04/10/2023, on the basis of a credible information, a joint team of PS Central Crime Station and Narcotics Cell of CID Unit in a significant breakthrough successfully recovered 2.095 Kgs of Marijuana from the possession of the accused Mohd. Shabib @ Guddu, 34 yrs R/o Chandini Chowk, Shadipur.

On investigation, it was found that the seized ganja was transported through postal services with the assistance of their staff namely S.A.Karthick, M.T.S R/o Shadipur and D.Wilson David Raj, DRM R/o Shadipur. On getting sufficient evidence, both the staff were arrested and put under sustained interrogation.

On interrogation, it is found that the main King pin of this racket is Abdul Sahil, 40 yrs S/o Late Lakan R/o South Point, Shadipur who used to visit Rourkela, Odisha every month to purchase Ganja at cheaper price and sent the same at Port Blair through Postal service using fictitious names with fake address mentioning non-working mobile numbers. As part of the modus operandi, he forwarded the tracking ID of those parcels to Mohd. Shabib, S.A.Karthick & D.Wilson David, so that the parcels can be delivered to Mohd. Shabib @ Guddu.

On further investigation, it was found that 01 parcel sent by the accused Abdul Sahil on 03/10/2023 from Rourkela, Odisha was in transit. In the meanwhile, accused Abdul Sahil also reached at Port Blair who was intercepted and after sustained interrogation, he was arrested on 10/10/2023.

In the meantime, a letter has also been received from the Postal Department about the receipt of that suspected parcel booked by the accused Abdul Sahil from Rourkela, Odisha. Thus, the same was seized on 10/10/2023 containing 2.060 Kgs of Ganja.

Accused persons Abdul Sahil and Mohd. Shabib @ Guddu were operating this drug racket with the active assistance of staff of Head Post Office, Port Blair namely S.A.Karthick & D.Wilson David Raj. Thus, the hard work, gathering of intelligence on real time basis and relentless efforts by the team of CID unit with the extended help of postal services has successfully busted this drug racket with the arrest of all the accused persons involved in this chain.

The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of Sh. Vinay Mathur, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics) and Sh. Kumar Abhishek, DANIPS, Dy.SP CID, under the overall supervision of Sh. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP CID.
