Port Blair, Oct. 15: The CPI (M) has demanded to evolve common criteria for the physical endurance test and trade for the posts of mazdoor in all the Divisions under the Forest Department.  In a letter sent to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A & N Forest Deparrrtment a few days ago, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee stated that different yardstick has been adopted by different Divisions for the physical endurance test and trade test for selection of candidates.

He has stated in the letter that recently, the Wildlife Division, Port Blair has conducted the Physical endurance test for the candidates at Chidiyatappu where each candidate had to carry 20 Kg weight of sand while in some of the other Divisions, the same is only 15 Kg.   For long jump, etc, different criteria have been adopted by each Division.  He further told the PCCF that the Wildlife Division, Port Blair had conducted the physical endurance test for the candidates who applied for the posts of mazdoor in 2017. Several candidates including women candidates had to face difficulties in the physical endurance test conducted by the said Division at Chidiyatappu a few days ago.

Hence the CPI (M) Secretary urged the PCCF to look into this matter personally and demanded that till a common criteria for the physical endurance test and trade test is evolved, the physical endurance test and trade test announced by other Divisions may be kept in  abeyance and such tests already conducted by the Wildlife Division, Port Blair or any other Division may be cancelled and candidates be given another chance on the basis of such common criteria/guidelines to be  decided by the department.
