Port Blair, Oct. 16: The Model Career Centre (Employment Exchange), Directorate of Employment & Training conducted Career Guidance and motivational talk program on Oct.14 at Love Children Home, Indira Nagar, Humfreygunj in collaboration with Directorate of Social Welfare. Presently, 69 children are residing in the children home functioning under Social Welfare Department. The objective of this career guidance programme was to motivate the children and to orient them about various opportunities in the field they are interested in.

During the session, the Assistant Employment Officer, Smti K Binu emphasised on the importance of classroom learning and acquiring skill set to build a career. The children comprising of students from Class I to XII attended the session. They were also encouraged to express their views voluntarily and indulge in activities to relieve stress, anger and fear and were also oriented about career planning through a power point presentation. Success stories of persons who have stayed in Care & Protection Institutions and are successful in life were also shared to encourage the children. The other official of MCC, Shri Dinesh Moorthy sensitized the students about NCS and the procedures to register in the National Portal.

The resource person, Shri Nilesh Sarkar from Govt. ITI, Dollygunj emphasised on importance of skill training and explained about the different trades being offered by Govt.ITI.

On Oct.6, the team of MCC also visited the lone inmate of Observation Home, Nayagaon alongwith Shri Mani Balan, Mental Health Counsellor, ANIIMS for counselling.
