Port Blair, Oct. 20: Continuing its zero tolerance approach towards the menace of drugs, PS Aberdeen team has succeeded in registering two cases under NDPS Act within a week and has arrested three persons who were supplying drugs to students.

Acting on a tip off received on 16.10.2023 and 18.10.2023 from reliable sources, a raiding team led by Insp. Girish Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen, accompanied with HC/417 Vinod Kumar, HC/2329 Nakul Halder, PC/866 S N Rao, PC/885 Jayraj, PC/2834 Naw Elieen, PC/430 Jagdish Babu, PC/175 S.S Yadav and PC/2849 B. Kumar Swamy conducted two consecutive raids at Dean Street and near JNRM, Port Blair respectively.

In the first raid which took place on 16/10/2023 at Dean Street, Junglighat, a total of 6.93 grams Methamphetamine and more than 03 lakh rupees cash was recovered from an Auto Driver who was a resident of Dean Street Junglighat. The accused was arrested and a case was registered under relevant sections of NDPS Act. Subsequently, one more accused person from Little Andaman has also been arrested.

The second raid was conducted on 18/10/2023 near JNRM, on receipt of a credible information about a college going girl arriving with huge quantity of Methamphetamine for sale. On arrival, she was intercepted and 61 grams of Methamphetamine and 27,000/- cash was recovered from her possession and her bike.

The investigation of these cases is being carried out by SI P. Jeevan and SI Abhishek Halder respectively under the guidance of Insp. Girish Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen and under the close supervision of Sh. Sunny Gupta, IPS, Sub Divisional Police Officer, South Andaman.

During the course of investigation, forward as well as backward linkages are being ascertained, so that the supply chain behind the drugs can be traced out.
