Port Blair, Nov. 1: On the occasion of Foundation Day of Ladakh, a 6-member delegation comprising of students from Schools & Colleges from UT of Ladakh led by Ms. Rinchen Dolkar called on Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today at Raj Niwas. The delegation is in the Islands to showcase their rich cultural heritage on the occasion of Foundation Day of Ladakh today as part of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’/Ladakh to Nicobar- National Integration initiative.

While interacting with the members of the delegation, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor extended his best wishes on the occasion of the Foundation Day of Ladakh. The Lt. Governor said, as we celebrate the Foundation Day, let us uphold the shared values of brotherhood, unity, and diversity that connect us.

During the visit of 6-member delegation to A&N Islands from Oct. 29 to Nov. 5, the Ladakhi artistes will be fostering stronger ties and mutual understanding between A&N Islands and UT of Ladakh. This visit will also strengthen cultural bonds and people-to-people ties besides, going forward with the proposal towards the National Integration initiative, reserving seats in respective Higher Educational Institutions on mutual reciprocity basis in each other’s UT under consideration.

Today, the delegates visited National Memorial Cellular Jail & paid rich tributes to the Freedom Fighters. They also interacted with students of various schools & colleges and exchanged cultural programmes. The visiting delegates are also scheduled to visit important Tourism destinations viz. Swaraj Dweep, Baratang and Museums in and around the city to explore tourism potential & share best practices through Education, Sports & Tourism.
