Port Blair, Nov. 13: As a part of the celebration of 8th National Ayurveda Day with the theme: ‘Ayurveda for One Health’ with the tagline: ‘Ayurveda for everyone on every day', a Medicinal Plants Excursion was organized for the students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya to Botanical Garden of Botanical Survey of India, Nayasahar on Nov.1, 2023 by the AYUSH Wing of DHS and A & N State AYUSH Society. The trip was flagged off from VKV, Lamba Line by Ms. Varsha Bujone, Secretary, VKV Port Blair. A team of 140 students of VKV enthusiastically participated in the excursion trip along with the teachers.

At Botanical Garden, BSI, Nayasahar, Dr. Suryakant Singh, MO (Ayurveda), AYUSH Hospital welcomed the gathering. Students were briefed about identification and medicinal uses of various plants by Dr. Pankaj Dhole, Scientist, BSI, Dr. Anil Kumar, Scientist, BSI, Dr. S K Debnath, RO I/c, RRCA, CCRAS, Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, DD (AYUSH), Dr. Krishnan Kutty MO (Homoeo), Dr. Kirtika Chander, Dr. Keerti, MO (Ayurveda), PHC Chouldari.

The students were urged to plant locally available medicinal plants. Smt. Archana Gupta, Principal, VKV, Lamba Line, Dr. Lalji Singh, Additional Director, BSI and supporting staff of Botanical Garden, Nayasahar extended cooperation for the smooth conduct of the excursion.
