Port Blair, Nov. 14: The National Book Week-2023 observance from Nov. 14 to 20, 2013 got underway at State Library, Middle Point today. As part of the observance, a ‘Book Exhibition’ is being organized at the State Library by the Education Department. Books ranging from novels, children’s literature, books on personality development, competitive exams, biography, cookery, mythology, fantasy, science fiction, books on modern maker of India besides books on history of Andaman and Nicobar Islands etc. have been displayed.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Ravindra Kumar Singh, Deputy Director Education (Plg.), Directorate of Education, as the chief guest in the presence of Smti M V Jolly, Dy. Director Education (Perl), Shri M Nehru, Dy. Director Education (Science), Officers of Education Department and avid readers.

The Dy. Director Education (Plg.) went round the exhibition and evinced keen interest in the books on display and enquired about the availability of books on competitive exams for the benefit of the students of higher education.

More than 790 books on different subject are on display in the exhibition which will continue upto Nov. 20, 2023. The exhibition will remain open for the general public from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm. Apart from the book exhibition, various programmes like motivational/career guidance, elocution, drawing competitions will also be conducted for the school students by the Education Department in the State Library, Port Blair during the weeklong celebration of ‘National Book Week- 2023.
