I extend my heartfelt greetings to all media persons of these Islands on the occasion of "National Press Day," observed with great significance on the 16th of November in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as well as across the nation. This day marks the inception of the Press Council of India, acting as a moral guardian for the media.

The chosen theme for this year's celebration, 'Media in the era of Artificial Intelligence,' underscores the evolving landscape of journalism in our technologically advanced era. A free, fair, and responsible press is indispensable for the sustenance of any democratic society. As the fourth pillar of democracy, the media bears a lofty responsibility in contributing to the nation's development while upholding the principles enshrined in the Constitution of India.

In contemporary times, the values of journalistic ethics and the highest professional standards in unbiased news dissemination have never been more pivotal. Despite facing challenges such as geographical remoteness from mainland India and financial constraints, the media persons in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have exhibited exceptional dedication in serving the Islanders.

On this auspicious day, I commend and express my sincere appreciation to all media persons in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for their remarkable service. Wishing you all continued success and excellence in your endeavors.

Kuldeep Rai Sharma,
