Car Nicobar, Nov. 17: The District Administration, Nicobar is celebrating Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas from Nov. 15 to 26, 2023 as part of the 148th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Kinyuka Village. Smt. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, DC (N) today flagged off the ‘Maha Utsav March’ featuring Nicobari Tribal Artists, traditional dancers and students from Kinyuka Water Treatment Plant to GPS Kinyuka.  Good number of local tribal villagers took part in the march with traditional attire and enthusiastic slogans.

The programme at GPS Kinyuka began with lighting of the lamp and garlanding of the portraits of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Bishop John Richardson by the chief guest, DC (N) and Shri Lionald Nicomede,CTC. Various cultural events were also organized at GPS Kinyuka and the Deputy Commissioner graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was attended by the Officials from various Departments besides many local Village Captains were also present.

In her address, the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District urged the youth to take inspiration from the national as well as local leaders from the past in order to strengthen the communal bond for their bright future and overall community development.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri Piyush Singh, Project Officer, ITDP.
