Port Blair, Nov. 18: As part of National Book Week-2023 observance, a programme on motivational/career guidance was organized by the Directorate of Education in the Mini Conference Hall at State Library, Port Blair. ‘Select a career in which you have passion and interest so that you will enjoy your work”, was the clarion call given by all the Officials/resource persons from about 7 Departments who delivered motivational talk on career guidance for school students of class VIII & IX.

A motivational talk was given by Shri N Bala Krishnan, HoD, Political Science, JNRM who emphasized on preparation for competitive exams. Shri K Sunil Kumar, BE, ME, Trainer, Govt. ITI, Dollygunj highlighted on courses which are available at Govt. ITI, Dollygunj. Shri P Kaliswaran, Faculty, State Bank of India, Port Blair dwelt on the skill development programmes organized by SBI-RSETI. Smt. K Binu, Assistant Employment Officer, Model Career Center highlighted the role of Model Career Center (Employment Exchange). Shri P Jeevan, SI, Police Station Aberdeen, Port Blair explained in detail about the qualifications and other requirements for joining the Police force. Dr. Neena Alex, Medical Officer, DHS explained about the various professions in the medical sector.

Er. Johnson Abraham, Hon’ble Member, State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (State Commission), A & N Islands summed up the career guidance session. Earlier, Shri Anbarasan, In-charge, State Library welcomed the gathering.
