The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll with reference to 01.01.2024 as the qualifying date with a view to prepare an accurate, error free and healthy electoral rolls. The focus of this exercise will be on registration of all eligible electors especially youth, females and other marginalized section of the society. The current Summary Revision of electoral roll – 2024 is more important because this is the final ahead of General Elections to Lok Sabha due in early part of 2024. As such, 100% error free enrolment is required to be achieved so as to conduct the Lok Sabha Election in free and fair manner.

As per the schedule of SSR – 2024, Draft publication of electoral roll is already done on 27th October, 2023 (Friday) in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency and a copy of same is available with concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, Electoral Registration Officer,  District Election Officers and also CEO’s website for view for general public. The period of Claims & Objections shall be received upto 09th December, 2023 (Saturday) and the final electoral roll is to be published on 05th January, 2024 (Friday). The claims & objections shall be disposed by 26th December, 2023(Tuesday).

To further strengthen the efforts, a Special Camps will be conducted on 25.11.2023, 26.11.2023, 02.12.2023 & 03.12.2023 at all Polling Stations of A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency.

All Political Parties and General Public are requested to avail the benefit of special camps to inspect the electoral roll for filing any claims and objections and for updating the electoral roll. The youth or un-registered persons are eligible to file for inclusion in the ongoing revision process.

The revision process has a number of pre-determined activities which need to be completed within timelines and as such for the revision of rolls the Commission expects enthusiastic participation of the General Public and full involvement and cooperation of the political parties. The target is 100% enrolment & error free electoral roll. 

In order to hassle enrolment of the general public a Toll free No. 1950 has been setup which will function on all working days. There be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the roll or any objection to the inclusion of name or any objection to particulars in any entry, it should be lodged on or before the 09.12.2023 in Form 6, 6A, 7 & 8 as may be appropriate. The Booth Level Officer (BLOs) has been appointed in all Polling Stations and they will be available at their designated locations to receive claims & objections or send by post to the Electoral Registration Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency or concerned Assistant Electoral Registration Officer or through “Voter helpline App”, online website : https://voterportal.eci.gov.in or https://voters.eci.gov.in and https://www.ceoandaman.nic.in so as to reach not later than the aforesaid date.

I, therefore, appeal to the General Public especially the youth in the age group of 18-19 years to enrol their name in the Parliamentary Photo Electoral Rolls – 2024.
