New Delhi, Nov. 24: Shri. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member - BJP once again met the Hon'ble Union Minister for Roadway Transport and Highways, Government of India at New Delhi.

Shri. Jolly presented a ground zero report regarding the current prevailing situation of National Highway-4, throughout various stretches of North & Middle Andaman District. He pointed out the difficulties & challenges being faced by the residents & visitors of North & Middle Andaman.

Expressing displeasure over the conduct of the contractor who failed to perform his work diligently, the Hon'ble Minister stated that he is mindful of the current condition of the NH-4 and the problems that are being faced by the people of North & Middle Andaman. He further said that he has cancelled the contract with the said contractor and called for a fresh tender, the process of which would be expedited and soon the work would be awarded for completing the remaining work. He also said that the fresh tender for completion of Baratang Bridge which would connect Middle Straight with Baratang was also floated and the same has been opened. Soon the tender would be awarded and the work would restart.

He expressed anguish over the sufferings of people of North & Middle Andaman due to the pathetic condition of the NH.

Shri. Vishal Jolly further renewed & reiterated his demand for releasing adequate funds for carrying out necessary repairs of the roads of Port Blair Municipal Council under the Central Road & Infrastructure Fund.

The Hon'ble Minister has agreed to the demand raised by Shri. Vishal Jolly and declared that an amount of Rs. 60 crores would be released soon under CRF.

Shri. Vishal Jolly also highlighted that in order to make the various bad stretches of NH -4 motorable some additional funds may also be released for which the Hon'ble Minister had agreed to release Rs.13 crores.

Shri. Jolly further earnestly requested & invited the Hon'ble Minister to visit A & N Islands and pay a special visit to North & Middle Andaman District, to which the Hon'ble Minister has accepted the invitation and agreed to visit the Islands soon.
