Port Blair, Nov. 26: Continuing the action against illegal activities in South Andaman District, the Police team of Hut Bay seized huge quantity of crystalline Methamphetamine weighing 4.295 KG. Accordingly, a case under NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Hut Bay.

On 24/11/2023 at 0500 hrs, a credible information was received from reliable source that some unknown person had hidden Crystalline Methamphetamine near Jackson Creek Jungle, Little Andaman for illegal purpose.

Acting immediately, police search team comprising of SI Somen Kr. Haldar, SHO PS Hut Bay, ASI krishna rao, HC/1875 Swapan Kumar Dey, PC/2800 Anbu Kumar, CT/213 Jawahar Kujur, PC/951 Mohammad Hanifa was formed under the supervision of Sh. Manasvi Vashista, SDPO (Swaraj Dweep). The team proceeded to Jackson Creek, Little Andaman and after reaching near Jackson Creek Jungle, intense jungle search was conducted and 04 Nos suspicious packets were found hidden between the bushes near the Creek. The recovered 04 packets of crystalline methamphetamine were weighing a total of 4.295 kgs and worth Approx. Rs.9 Crores in International market.

Consequently, a case has been registered at PS Hutbay against unknown person and the investigation of case is under progress. The overall search operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (South Andaman) Shri Kalaivanan. R, IPS. Andaman & Nicobar Police has been sensitizing General Public to pass on information regarding illegal drugs and recently, a similar huge quantity of Methamphetamine drug was recovered in Nicobar District. We have been urging public to come forward with any such information regularly and this seizure was a result of these sustained efforts. Therefore general public especially residents of Little Andaman are once again requested to share any such information regarding drugs. The identity of informant shall be kept secret and handsome reward will be given to the informant.
