Port Blair, Nov. 27: The Hon'ble Member of Parliament from Kishanganj Constituency, Bihar Dr. Mohammad Jawed who is also holding the positions of Member of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Committee (Lok Sabha) and AICC Secretary visited the Gandhi Bhawan office at Port Blair on 25th November. Dr. Jawed was received by a large number of Congress workers and leaders.

Later, an interactive session with Dr. Jawed was held in Gandhi Bhawan which was presided over by ANTCC President Shri. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Shri. TSG Bhasker while Senior Congress leaders Smt. Shanta Laxman Singh, Shri. Hamid Ali, Shri. K. Ganeshan and Shri. A.R Manickam were present on the dais. The programme was hosted by NSUI State President Shri. M.A Sajid

The meeting mainly focused on the devolution of power to PRI’s under the 73rd Constitution Amendment Act of 1993, advocating for equal rights and opportunities. The Pradhan of Gram Panchayat, Mithakhari Shri. Mohd. Shafique and Up-Pramukh, Ferrargunj Shri. Simson gave their valuable suggestions for the revival of the Panchayati Raj Institution in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and handed over two representation letters to Dr. Jawed highlighting their demands.

Dr. Mohammad Jawed assured the PRI Members to take up their demands at the Ministry level. He then discussed the present political scenario in the country and highlighted the need for strengthening the Congress party for the future of the country as well as these Islands. Further, he chalked out a detailed strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

He also personally met and held deliberations with senior state congress leaders and representatives of frontal organisations.
