Minister of State for Minority Affairs, John Barla hands over Appointment Letters to New Recruits

Port Blair, Nov. 30: The UT of Andaman and Nicobar secured the ‘Third Highest Position’ across different locations in the country during the Second Nationwide Grand ‘Rozgar Mela’, with a fairly large number of Appointment Letters distributed to 285 newly recruits to fulfill the promise of Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to provide Govt. jobs to nearly 10 lakh people.

The grand and historic Second ‘Rozgar Mela’ was organized by Andaman and Nicobar Administration at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Pahargaon. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi participated in this nationwide Rozgar Mela through video conferencing at 38 different locations across the country.

Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Shri John Barla was the chief guest of the programme held at DBRAIT. Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A& N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Dr. T.S. Ashok Kumar, IFS, Director General of Police, Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva and Senior Officers and employees of the Administration were also present in the function.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, expressed his satisfaction and appreciated the efforts made by UT Administration for organizing ‘Rozgar Melas’ at a mass scale and stated that the Union Govt. under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister is committed to provide employment opportunities to the unemployed youth in mission mode. He assured that towards nation building, his Ministry is committed to support financially. He said, the Ministry of Minority Affairs provides 100 percent funding to UTs. He requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to prepare detailed proposal and submit to his Ministry so that, 100% time-bound support can be extended for its implementation. He also mentioned that, certain States and UTs in the North-East like Manipur and Sikkim, Rajasthan and South have also benefitted by way of financial and infrastructural support towards creation of Schools, Stadiums, Hostels, Guest Houses, Bridges etc. He also stated that the GoI under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister is committed for the upliftment of the poorer and weaker section of the society.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Admiral D.K. Joshi and stated that under their concerted directions and guidance, the recruitment process could be made seamless and successful. He informed that this is the only Union Territory in the entire Country among the States and UTs in which, highest number of Appointment Letters (876) were distributed during the first Nationwide Rozgar Mela held on 26.09.2023 and today, again, this UT stands third in position by offering 285 Offers of Appointment to the unemployed youth. He further informed that, the UT Administration is working tirelessly to ensure that more than 2000 vacant posts are duly filled in during forthcoming Rozgar Mela to be held by December end/January 2024, wherein, the UT is poised to again achieve the first position, nationwide. He made a special mention of the fact that the year-long exercise was full of challenges due to its geographical location, remoteness, limited resources and other constraints. However, the Administration has worked tirelessly to achieve the goals with perfection, diligence, responsibility and determination to achieve the national objective. He also mentioned that, apart from this, necessary efforts for the recruitment of more than 1800 deemed-abolished posts are also being made to fulfill the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister to make India ‘Be-Rozgar Mukt’ and ‘Atma-Nirbhar’ by 2047.These new appointees are expected to contribute towards PM's vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’. He also expressed his sincere thanks to the chief guest, Hon'ble MoS, Minority Affairs, Shri John Barla for gracing the function and motivating the youth.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Secretary (Perl.), A&N Administration, Shri C. Arvind welcomed the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Shri John Barla, Hon’ble MP and the distinguished guests present on the dais, along with the selected candidates and their parents for making the function grand and successful. He expressed his sincere gratitude towards the fact that the year-long process for recruitment of more than 5000 vacant posts could be undertaken by the UT Administration under the leadership and constant supervision of Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Admiral D.K. Joshi Ji, and the Chief Secretary, Shri Keshav Chandra Ji in a fair, transparent, methodological and time-bound manner. He also informed that during the first Rozgar Mela, we were the highest in position with 876 jobs offered to the candidates. He informed the gathering that Govt. jobs constitute more than 70% of the GDP of the UT and thus, creation of these additional jobs along with development of the UT including the much acclaimed and aspirational GNI project of GoI will bring major transformations in the economy of these Islands towards India's march for achieving a $5 Trillion economy in the near future.

The public function concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Anil Agarwal, Secretary (Labour and Employment) and Special Secretary (Personnel) of Administration, on behalf of all the Andaman and Nicobar Islanders, offering heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, under whose constant guidance and inspiration, the nationwide Rozgar Melas of this magnitude could be launched to provide adequate employment to the unemployed Youth. He also expressed sincere gratitude towards Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Shri John Barla, Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Admiral D.K. Joshi, Hon'ble MP, A& N Islands, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A & N Administration and other Senior Officers and staffs of the Administration for making this program highly successful.  Further, he also thanked all the other distinguished guests and newly appointed candidates and their respective gurus and parents who had helped them in making their dreams come true.
