Port Blair, Dec. 6: In a significant development, Police team of PS Ograbraj consisting ASI Ranjit Kumar Baroi, PC/1047 Jayanta Kumar Biswas, PC/1438 R Cepas and PC (D)/3059 Mohammed Sameer working under the direction of SI Devanand Pathak, SHO PS Ograbraj, while at traffic checking at Manpur intercepted one Omni with 2 persons carrying approximately 3.855 Kgs meat of Andaman Water Monitor Lizard (Varanus salvator andamanensis) an endangered species enlisted in Schedule I of Wildlife Protection Act 1972. The meat and the involved vehicles was seized from the spot and the offenders were apprehended.

The team under the supervision of Shri Sandeep Lamba, SDPO Bambooflat and over all supervision of Shri Kalaivanan R, IPS, SP(D) SA, apprehended the accused persons alongwith all the seized articles and they were handed over to the Forest Officials of Tusnabad Range Office for further necessary action at their end. This catch highlights our unwavering and impartial stance against wildlife crimes.
