Port Blair, Dec. 12: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to repair city roads on priority basis, which have sustained damages during Monsoon season.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament said that as the monsoon season concludes, Andaman & Nicobar Islands are now entering a dry spell that is expected to last approximately 4 to 5 months.

He mentioned that this transition period offers an opportune time to address the significant road-related issues in Port Blair. “The heavy rainfall during the monsoon has resulted in the development of numerous problems across the city's road, creating thousands of potholes and causing distress to the local population,” said the MP.

The Member of Parliament pointed out that critical routes, including Austinabad Road, New Pahar Gaon Road, Bhatu Basti to Dollygunj Road and several other crucial stretches demand immediate attention. The condition of these roads not only inconveniences the residents but also poses serious safety hazards, increasing the risk of accidents.

In this regard, he requested immediate initiation of road repair and maintenance projects. He said that addressing these issues urgently will not only enhance the convenience of the general public but also contribute significantly to the safety of road users in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
