Port Blair, Dec. 13: Shri B. Neelaiah, a primary school teacher, FIDE instructor and chess trainer from the Islands, adds another glorious chapter to the chess history of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He has been appointed as one of the coaches for the Indian chess team participating in the 25th Asian Youth Chess Championship2023 at Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 12th to 22nd December 2023. It is his first assignment as a coach for the national team, in which 42 countries will be vying for the honours.

Grandmaster Praveen Thipsay will head the coaching team, which will be assisted by FIDE Instructors Kiran Agarwal, Neelaiah and Laishram Imocha for the Indian Chess Contingent at the 25th Asian Youth Chess Championship 2023.

The Championship will be held at the Al-Ain Convention Centre in UAE under the age groups of 08, 10, 12, 14, and 16 Boys and girls in Rapid, Standard, and Blitz formats.

This international assignment is a well-deserved recognition for Neelaiah, for all the hard work and direction he has given to chess in the Islands. Andaman Chronicle and the chess fraternity of the islands wishes him all the best in this prestigious role.
