Port Blair, Dec. 18: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has sanctioned Rs. 75 Lakhs for construction of Volleyball and Badminton court and Installation of Flood lights in fifteen villages of Car Nicobar Island to promote sports among the tribal youths.

The work was sanctioned under MPLADs funds for the fifteen villages Viz. Mus village, Small Lapathi, Tapoiming village, Big Lapathy village, Chuckchucha village, Tamaloo village, Malacca village, Kakana village, Kimius village, Teetop village, Perka village, Sawai village, Kinyuka village, Kinmai village and Arong village.

Youths of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, especially from Nicobar District have brought several laurels for Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the field of sports in national as well as in international level.

Hence to promote sports further in Car Nicobar Island, the above work has been sanctioned and once the work for Volleyball and Badminton court with Flood Light are completed, youths will be able to practise Volleyball and Badminton under Flood Light till late evening. This will also help youths of Car Nicobar in maintaining good health and keep them away from social evils like addiction.
