Port Blair, Dec. 21: On 16th December 2023, the Socio-Cultural Organisation, Chetana and Daira-A- Urdu Adab jointly organised Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira at the auditorium of Tagore College of Education, Middle Point. Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Adhyakcha Zilla, Parishad, South Andaman and Chairperson, District Planning Committee graced the occasion as chief guest.

Addressing the gathering the chief guest, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh appreciated the effort of both the organisations and categorically mentioned that it is a welcome step for maintaining communal harmony and peace in the Islands apart from encouraging the emerging talents.

One of the objective of this program was to provide platform to young emerging Poets and Poetess of the Andaman Nicobar Islands. Altogether 15 Kavi and Shayars presented their compositions covering various aspects of the life, beauty and historical value of Andaman Islands.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests. This was followed by Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira which was presided over by Janab I. A. Khan, President, Daira-A-Urdu Adab.

Dr Manju Nair, president Chetana delivered the welcome speech.

Sri Farooq Sheikh Alam, a multitalented Social worker and a renowned business person of the Union Territory, compered the entire program in excellent manner.

The Vice President and Joint Secretary of Chetana, namely, Rita Banerjee and Dr Renu Bala supported by K Suma and Shiv Ram Yadav did all the ground work for organising this event.

Earlier artists from Tal Music School led by Sri Gautam Dhali presented welcome song. The Chief Guest was honoured by presenting flower bouquet and shawl by the General Secretary of Chetana, Shri BP Yadav. The programmed concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri BP Yadav, General Secretary, Chetna.
