Port Blair, Dec. 27: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to change the timing of the last ferry from Bambooflat to Chatham to 10.30 PM from existing 10.00 PM so that people can reach Chatham Jetty from ITF venue in time and get the last ferry for Bambooflat.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that in view of Island Tourism Festival 2023, to facilitate the commuters of Bambooflat and its adjoining areas, the Directorate of Shipping Services is presently operating additional Vehicle Ferry Service during night hours between Chatham & Bambooflat from 27th to 31st December 2023 and as per information the last ferry from Chatham for Bambooflat has been scheduled at 10.00 PM.
He mentioned that a large number of public have informed him that the ITF is open at Port Blair upto 10.00 PM and hence it is impossible for ITF goers, general public and those who are participating in ITF to reach Chatham Jetty before 10.00 PM and avail the last ferry.
In this regard he requested the Chief Secretary to intervene and change the timing of the last ferry for Bambooflat from Chatham to 10.30 PM.
